The Net-Zero Mar Alliance launches its working groups

news-details

The Net-Zero Mar Alliance has recently launched two of the workshops scheduled for 2022, one of them focused on the supply of electricity to ships from port and the second on the Roadmap decarbonization of the maritime port sector.

It should be remembered that the Net-Zero Mar Alliance is a collaborative platform whose main objective is to promote the decarbonisation and electrification of the maritime sector in Spain and which was launched at the end of last year. This non-profit platform will be available to all agents, companies and institutions that want to join forces to reduce polluting emissions generated by infrastructure and maritime transport.

During the workshop on electricity supply to ships from port, which was attended by more than 35 attendees, the main objectives of this working group were defined, among which are monitoring international trends, making business, identify OPS (Onshore Power Supply) facilities in Spanish ports, categorize ports by type of electrical network, analyze exemptions and port incentive mechanisms, as well as associated regulations, and evaluate sustainable exploitation profiles. This working group is chaired by Guillermo Amann, from Ormazabal, and has Raúl Gil Cazorla, from ABB Spain, as current vice president.

For its part, the work table on the Roadmap for the decarbonization of the maritime port sector, in which more than 25 associates participated, established as its main objective the need for the energy transition process of the maritime port sector to be efficient and be done in a planned way. The specific objectives agreed seek to draw an adjusted and representative profile of the current state of greenhouse gas emissions; know the alternatives and technological trends that facilitate the decarbonization of the sector; carry out an analysis of the existing regulatory and strategic framework and identify the aid and financing opportunities available. This working group is chaired by María Merino, from Ghenova, and Pablo Campos, from Grupo Junquera Marítima.

Another novelty of this collaborative platform is that its website www.netzeromar.org is now operational , a fundamental tool for the sector to have access to all the information on the Net-Zero Mar Alliance, its working groups, activities , documents and publications that may be of interest to its associates. Additionally, the Alianza Net-Zero Mar has begun its activity on the professional network LinkedIn ( www.linkedin.com/company/alianza-net-zero-mar ) with the aim of weekly offering relevant content to the port maritime community interested in line with its strategic objectives.

The Net–Zero Mar Alliance aims to position the Spanish maritime industry as a leader in reducing emissions in maritime port environments using alternative technologies to achieve these objectives. To this end, it will establish a continuous dialogue between all stakeholders in the sector, as well as with official bodies; It will address specific projects and will bet on research, development and innovation that supports this transformation.

The Net-Zero Mar Alliance, whose general secretariat is managed by the Valenciaport Foundation , is currently made up of the following entities: ABB, Abervian, Alicante Port Authority, Valencia Port Authority, Baleària, Bound4blue, Technology Research Center, Energy and Sustainability of the University of Huelva (CITES), Endurance Motive SA, FRS, Valenciaport Foundation, Junquera Marítima Group, Ghenova, Gimeno Group, Consulmar Group, Ingeteam, Iberdrola, Technological Institute of Energy (ITE), Man Energy Solutions, MSCTV Terminal Valencia, Navantia SA, Ormazabal – A Velatia Company, Port Castelló, Puerto Banús, PYMAR, RINA, Seaplace, Suardíaz Shipping Lines, Tecnalia, Tubacex Group and Polytechnic University of Valencia.
